We serve Christians around the world whose brave faith in Jesus means they are, beaten, threatened, imprisoned, tortured, falsely accused, disowned and hated.

WRITE TO: PASTOR LAXMAN IN INDIA

pattern

Pastor Laxman* grew up a Hindu but encountered Jesus when he visited church and Christians prayed for his wife, Latika*, who was severely ill. “When my wife received healing with just one prayer at the church, I understood that her God was a God who answered prayers,” he says.

The pastor has since seen God miraculously intervene in the lives of many others. “I met a man who was suffering from epilepsy,” Laxman remembers. “He used to have attacks five times a day. I met and prayed with him. After a few months, he was completely healed.”

Word spread about what God was doing in Pastor Laxman’s church. From a handful of believers, the church grew to hundreds.

But as is often the case in many parts of India, growing churches are a threat to Hindu extremists, who believe that to be Indian is to be Hindu. Pastor Laxman was falsely accused of forced conversions, imprisoned and his church attacked.

Laxman has since been released and he hopes that his church will be rebuilt. In the meantime, some 40 believers continue to gather secretly for prayer. “They can break the church building and send us to jail and beat us up,” he says. “But they cannot separate us from Jesus or stop us from following Jesus.”
