We serve Christians around the world whose brave faith in Jesus means they are, beaten, threatened, imprisoned, tortured, falsely accused, disowned and hated.

KYRGYZSTAN: BIBLE TORN TO PIECES

pattern

BELOW IS A PIC OF Leyla’s* Bible – after it was torn to pieces by her own brother.

Leyla* lives in Kyrgyzstan, which rose more places in the latest World Watch List than any other country (jumping from 61st to 47th place). . Christian converts from Islam face the worst persecution, as they can experience pressure from family, community and the state. Over the last year there has been a number of violent incidents against believers, hence why it jumped so many placed. Church leaders can be detained, interrogated and fined during church raids.

So in this context, Leyla’s choice to become a Christian was especially brave. After choosing to follow Jesus, Leyla was given a Bible by a friend, and she read it secretly in her room, hiding it, and her new faith from her Muslim family.

However, after discovering the Bible, her brother kicked her out of home and threatened her. Leyla is currently staying with a friend, but she is afraid.
