We serve Christians around the world whose brave faith in Jesus means they are, beaten, threatened, imprisoned, tortured, falsely accused, disowned and hated.

NIGER: 150 YOUNG ADULTS GET THEIR OWN BIBLES!

pattern

Not having regular access to Scripture is something many people find hard to imagine – and as Christians, we know how precious our Bibles are. But in Niger, as in many other places around the world, it is very difficult to find a Bible.

While it’s not illegal to own one, most bookshops are owned by Muslims, who consider it forbidden to sell Bibles. And in the few shops where Bibles can be found, for many Christians – especially young people – they are just too expensive.

But local Open Doors partners recently delivered Bibles to 150 young people – made possible through your prayers and support! The 85 men and 65 women who received these precious books, in the Hausa and French languages, come from five villages in southern Niger.

In this part of the country, there are many young Christians and new converts who live in Muslim-majority communities. Often after conversion, their Muslim parents take their Bibles to prevent them from reading God’s Word. With a lack of financial means, these new converts also find it hard to buy another Bible – which is why your help has been such a blessing to these believers.

“..by the grace of God, I have my own copy of the Holy Bible. I can read it in the church, at home, or while working and even during travelling.”

SALISU

“We are happy because of these Bibles”

“Truly we appreciate God, we need Bibles,” says one young man, Filibus. “We are happy because of these Bibles, we received them at the right time. I say thank you! And we are hoping to have more Bibles from you soon because we are many. We are so glad! Thank you again.”

Salisu, another recipient, also expressed his gratitude for receiving his own Bible:

“Thank you very much for these Bibles that you distributed to us. Whenever the preacher gives verses to read during the sermon in the church, because I don’t have a Bible to read, I just have to listen when someone is reading. Now, by the grace of God, I have my own copy of the Holy Bible. I can read it in the church, at home, or while working and even during travelling. Thank you very much, brothers and sisters, for this support. God bless this ministry, and those who have given their money for serving the persecuted believers.”

Another believer, Alisabatu, added, “Today I am with the Bible in my hand, and it is mine, my property. Thank you, God, for being the provider, and I pray God’s blessings to the brothers and sisters who supported us with these Bibles.”
