We serve Christians around the world whose brave faith in Jesus means they are beaten, threatened, imprisoned, tortured, falsely accused, disowned and hated.

INDIA: GOOD NEWS. 13 CHRISTIANS RELEASED AFTER BEING ARRESTED AT A WORSHIP EVENT IN JUNE

pattern

Thirteen Christians falsely accused of trying to force Tribal people in Rajasthan, India, to convert to Christianity have now been released from prison.

Back in June we shared how a three-day worship convention was raided by a Hindu extremist group in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Instead of being protected by the police, 13 Christians attending the event were arrested and imprisoned. Now, praise God, they have all been released! Thank you for praying…

“Their release is a great reason to give thanks to God and a reminder of His faithfulness.”

SURAJ, OPEN DOORS

“We praise God that a pastor and 12 fellow believers have been granted bail and released after spending four months in prison,” shares Suraj Thakur*, a local Open Doors partner. “Their release is a great reason to give thanks to God and a reminder of His faithfulness.”

She continues: “While many Christians continue to endure long periods of imprisonment for their faith, we rejoice with these brothers as they return to their families and communities.”

The believers had been arrested under false accusations of forcibly trying to convert people. As detailed in the post here, Rajasthan is one of a growing number of states implementing anti-conversion laws. These purport to protect citizens from forced or coerced conversions but, in reality, the laws are often used to target and harass Christians.

We join with the church in Rajasthan in praising God for answering the prayers of these courageous believers, and those of their families and friends. Please keep praying for all Christians in the state to know His love and to have opportunities to be salt and light.
