Pastor Kashem (not his real name) has been leading a church in central Bangladesh for over 10 years. He is a former Muslim background believer (MBB) who spends his time sharing the message of Jesus with people who have never heard it before.
On May 16, 2026, at around 5:00 PM, Pastor Kashem was heading home from a local market when he was suddenly attacked. Four men on two motorcycles stopped him and began hitting him with large sticks.
“They kept beating me and warned me, ‘If you keep preaching about Christianity or sharing the Gospel, we won’t spare you next time,’” Pastor Kashem said.
The attack was so serious that he might not have survived if people nearby hadn’t stepped in quickly to help. When others rushed in, the attackers ran away, leaving him badly injured. He was taken to hospital, and his wife was told what had happened.
Pastor Kashem serves in a mostly Muslim area, where openly sharing his faith has made him a target. He has never hidden what he believes, and because of this, some extremist groups strongly oppose his work. “The only reason they attacked me is because I share the Good News,” he explained.
Right now, Pastor Kashem is still receiving medical treatment. His family is living in fear because of threats connected to his ministry. However, his church community and other local Christians are supporting them with prayer and care.
A local ministry partner said, “Pastor Kashem has served faithfully for many years, even though he has faced a lot of pressure. This attack has made some believers afraid, but it’s also encouraging people to pray more boldly. Please pray for his full recovery and for him to stay strong in his calling.”
Local partners are helping Pastor Kashem and his family by praying for them and covering medical and emergency costs. They are asking others to pray for his safety, healing, and courage to continue his work – please pray using the points below…
