Christians in north Cameroon are urgently requesting your prayers following the kidnap of two believers DURING the latest attack in the region.
They were taken on 10 August when Boko Haram militants targeted the village of Mahoula in Mayo-Sava Division, an area notorious for attacks by the militant group because of how close it is to the border with Nigeria. The victims come from two different churches.
Since 2014, despite ongoing military operations by Cameroon’s security forces, the wider northern region has increasingly been targeted by extremists, with kidnappings, raids, looting, destruction of property and killings leaving many families living in fear and uncertainty.

“In the locality of Amchidé, the church is going through many difficulties,” shares Pastor Babien from the nearby village of Amchidé. “We see regular kidnappings… We experience the destruction of the church’s property. We face regular attacks.”
The pastor stresses that, beyond physical suffering, many believers are struggling to maintain hope and faith. “I would also like you to pray for us that our faith will not fail. Because given these trials, at some point the flesh tells us to let go,” he says.
He calls for additional prayer during the current farming season, noting that security concerns continue to threaten livelihoods and food production. “I would like you to pray for us that God will keep us this year, especially during this agricultural season, that we can bring in our harvests well,” he asks.
“I would also like you to pray for the Christian families, orphans and widows who are destabilised through the attacks, the killings, the murders of Christians.”
The pastor urges people to pray not only for the victims but also for those responsible for the violence. “We want them to be converted,” he says. “I would like you to help us in prayer, so that even those who persecute us believe. Because everything is possible with God.”
You can also help by signing and sharing the Arise Africa petition, which calls for protection, justice and restoration for those affected by violent persecution in Cameroon and in many places in sub-Saharan Africa. Together, we can raise one million signatures to present to national governments and international organisations, compelling them to use their power and influence to stop the violence and start the healing. Thank you.
