Following escalating tensions in August 2025, Ruwani was forced to stop holding services in her home due to opposition and ongoing court cases. Fearing retaliation, her family could no longer leave the house unattended. Field partners helped by installing security cameras.
“We faced a very hard time. Even my three children were in despair. We couldn’t go anywhere, and we never knew what might happen at any moment. We had to remain at constant alert,” Ruwani said.
Determined to continue her ministry, Ruwani rented a hall in town and split the congregation. “If we all gathered at my house, people would notice the crowds again. So, I kept half of the congregation here and conducted services for the other half in the hall in town,” she explained.

In December 2025, during a small fasting and prayer meeting at her home, villagers confronted them. “At first, we saw about five of them approaching, but when we stepped outside, about thirty villagers had gathered against us,” she said.
Despite her sons explaining it was only a prayer meeting, the mob became violent. “There is a small cliff near our entrance, my son fell off it. They beat my younger son as well,” Ruwani said. Both were seriously injured, and she rushed them to the hospital.
Ruwani filed a police complaint, supported by CCTV footage. “God answered my prayers. The police officer who had been against us had been replaced, and the new officer acted justly,” she said. Charges were filed against the attackers and the monk who organized the assault. “This time, the judge warned the opposers and the monk who caused all the problems. She ordered that if any further harm happens to us, they will be arrested,” Ruwani added. The next hearing is scheduled for June 2026.
Despite ongoing challenges, Ruwani resumed services at her home. “God will protect us in this place. He gave me a vision to start here, so I will not stop,” she said.
After months of prayer, her long-delayed housing plan was finally approved. “After months of prayer, the plan was finally approved,” she said, noting she hopes to use the new space for prayer.
“I know God will be with me until the end,” Ruwani concluded.

That the Lord will be with Ruwani and her family as they serve this village. Pray that the Lord will protect them and guide them in their ministry.
That Ruwani will be able to finish all her planned building work as soon as possible for her to start ministry in this area.
That justice will be served in the upcoming court case in June. Pray that the Lord will be with Ruwani and that they will be allowed to continue the service that they started.
