Yusuf (20) is a new believer in Christ. Like countless others who choose to follow Jesus, he is facing immense pressure for becoming a Christian. Join us in praying for Yusuf and the thousands of new brothers and sisters who are courageously choosing Jesus.
Yusuf first heard the Gospel when he was only eight years old. But in the Muslim dominated region of northern Nigeria where he grew up, his family did not let him become a Christian. In fact, to discourage him from meeting with other Christians, Yusuf’s father sent him to live with his uncle in another state. Whilst there, his uncle took him to the mosque, and he was cut off from all Christian influences and friendships.
To keep him preoccupied, his uncle made him work in his farm each day and stop him from going out and associating with any Christians. However, in April 2022, Yusuf decided that he would no longer go to mosque, and worked up the courage to commit his life to Jesus. When his family got wind of the change, they started bullying him. Yusuf was ignored, rejected and forced to leave home.
In October 2022, Yusuf found refuge at a discipleship centre, where he has since been spending the time training alongside other young Christians from a Muslim background.
Yusuf is grateful to God for bringing him to the light and enabling him to have a new family in Christ Jesus.
He prays that God would visit his family and bring them to know Him, and that God would use him to bring others into a relationship with their heavenly Father.
One of those supporting the young Christians at the discipleship centre prayed this prayer for Yusuf. You might want to pray it for him and others at the centre yourself!
”Our Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour,
Good Shepherd, we thank You for Your goodness upon us.
We thank You Father for the life of your servant.
He has faced a lot of challenges in his life for accepting You Jesus.
He was denied food at home and rejected by his family.
But we thank You merciful Father for Your love and grace.
You brought him to the family of Christ.
We thank You, Lord.
He is a young man with a lot of needs and desires,
we pray You help him and provide for him.
We pray for strength in his journey of faith,
Give him the understanding of Your word, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit.
Help him in his journey of faith, Lord we know You are a good shepherd.
You will not forsake him.
This is our plea with faith and thanksgiving.
Through Jesus we ask.
We know You will do much more than we ask.
In Jesus’ Name.
Amen.“
